I love this piece because it reminds of where I came from and the people I love."

Oaklei Black: Age 13; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

"I'm proud of my deer. It was kinda a challenge to blend the mountains. Skills I used was using the white colored pencil to blend and I drew mountains because Cedar has really pretty mountains"
Lisa Welch: Age 13; Grade 8 ( Graphite)

"My artwork was inspired by my late grandpa. When I was younger he always encouraged me to follow my dreams! I always wanted to own an ride horses ever since I was little. He inspired me to take horse back riding lessons for many years. Once he passed away, I lost interest in horses all together. But I realized that he would want me to keep doin what I love. This represents Cedar City Livestock by showing Utahs beautiful animals that roam over its beautiful lands. I mostly used shading to create different values of color and different colors on the horse. This project taught me to appreciate what beautiful people and landscape we have in this amazing state."
Channing Batty: Age 13; Grade 8 (Watercolor)

"My picture is of the historic movie theatre on main street. It's important to me because my great great grandfather John Rowberry owned it for quite a some time. He was also in the green book! I love Cedar and all is history!"

Cohen: Age 13; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

"I wanted to capture a little bit of Utah in my artwork. I chose to draw red rock in Bryce Canyon because areas such as Zion and Bryce Canyon have always made this state feel special to me. The night sky has also always served as an inspiration for me. This is why I wanted to draw both of these in my drawing."

Korbyn Adams: Age 14; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

"I am proud that my drawing looks a lot more real than any of my other drawings. The challenge that I overcame was teh grass and it look not real but now it looks a lot better. I improved my realisticness. Learning about my heritage made me draw mountains because there is a lot of mountains in Utah. I would try a different animal and make my mountains more realistic."

Nanzie Cobian Ricardo: Age 13, Grade 8 (Watercolor)

Jackson Jeter: Age 13; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

Brantley Keele: Age 12; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

Cassidy Crossman: Age 13; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

"As I was making my art it was very helpful because as I was sketching my piece I learned how to improve in how I draw my animals and landscape. I also learned how to layer color pencils on top of each other and by doing that I was able to create one color that is actually multiple colors blended together."

Natalie Askari: Age 14; Grade 8 (Watercolor)

"I painted my painting this way because I had some inspiration from a photo I took in California. It has a beautiful sunset and mountains. I painted a horse as my live stock animal because it was one of my last memory's with my Grandpa before he passed. I was one of my favorite photos he took that day. I decided to add it to my painting because I wanted him to be included in this too. I used water color as my medium because opa/grandpa said " make sure to get all the white if you don't get all the white then you're not finished" I think he's the reason I love art. Water color is my favorite because its easy to get all the white patches."
Kammee Reiser: Age 13; Grade 8 ( Watercolor/Graphite)

"My artwork was inspired by my grandma and her animals especially horses. She grew up on a farm and had a special horse named cinnamon. My grandma showed me how important it is to care for animals and nature. I remember going up to my grandmas house where she grew up and feeding the horses with my grandma.

Essendon Earl: Age 13; Grade 8 (Colored Pencil)

" The thing I love about my artwork is the Utah landscape, because it showes how beatiful this state is. My challenge with my artwork was the detail. I noticed I didn't have enough detail in the rocks and grass, so I added some and t looks a lot better. A new skill I used was blending with the white colored pencil. It was really good with blending the clouds."

Mykaela Garfield: Age 13; Grade 8 (Acrylic Paint)
